About me
I’m Mina Beck, LCSW, a licensed clinical social worker in Colorado and the founder of The Tempered Way. I work with adults who feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or quietly exhausted from chronically operating in survival.
My approach to therapy is humanistic, relational, and trauma-informed. I believe healing happens not through fixing or forcing change, but through understanding-especially understanding how early experiences, relationships, and long-standing survival patterns continue to shape the way we think, feel, and relate today.
Prospective clients might be individuals who have lived through complex or developmental trauma, chronic emotional neglect, or long-term stress. Others struggle with depression, anxiety, dissociation, identity confusion, or a persistent sense that something is “off” but hard to name. Often, these struggles make sense when viewed through the lens of attachment history, early relational experiences, and the ways the mind and body learned to stay safe in environments that felt unpredictable and overwhelming.
I specialize in working with:
Complex trauma and CPTSD
Structural dissociation and dissociative symptoms
Depression and chronic low mood
Anxiety, panic, and hypervigilance
Shame, self-criticism, and emotional overwhelm
Attachment wounds and relational trauma
Rather than relying on a single model, I integrate approaches that support deep, lasting change. My work is informed by Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Coherence Therapy and memory reconsolidation, ACT, DBT, motivational interviewing, and contemporary research on the neurobiology of trauma and how to treat trauma effectively.
At times, I also work through a psychodynamic lens, paying close attention to recurring themes, internal conflicts, and the ways past experiences continue to shape present-day reactions and relationships.
I place strong value on the therapeutic relationship as a central vehicle for change. Patterns that show up in your life-how you protect yourself, how you expect others to respond, how you manage closeness or conflict-often appear in subtle ways within the therapy relationship as well. When explored thoughtfully and with care, these moments can open the door to insight, reparative experiences, and new ways of relating.
In sessions, I aim to create a space that is attuned, collaborative, and non-judgmental. I don’t rush insight or push coping skills before they’re useful. We move at a pace that respects your system. Therapy, as I practice it, is a process of gently uncovering why certain patterns formed, honoring how they once helped you survive, and supporting you in finding more flexibility, choice, and self-trust and autonomy over time.
I don’t see people as broken, and I don’t pathologize survival strategies. My role is to help you make sense of yourself with compassion and clarity, and to walk alongside you as you reconnect with parts of yourself that may have gone quiet, guarded, or overwhelmed along the way.
If you’re looking for therapy that is thoughtful, depth-oriented, and grounded in compassion, you may feel at home here.
